Ramblings

The wranch house continues its inexorable and unrelenting arrival from the future, where it exists in harmony, one hopes, with Future Self. It is undergoing its birth into the present, like an infant’s journey from its mother’s womb to its first breath and the warm welcoming embrace of the world we live in. Until the babe is born, it has no past, but the future from which it comes is limitless and unbounded. As the little angel takes on its human form, it will encounter or define those limits and bounds — and seek direction through its own will and dreams in a world unique and personal and full of wonder.

The past collides with the future in the present, and our consciousness emerges from the fusion. It collides not like waves upon a rocky shore, but as a gentle breeze almost as imperceptible as the sailor’s horizon on an overcast evening. The collisions are instantaneous and continuous. Poets and philosophers have written of this mystery of the trinity of time with language more beautiful and meaningful than I can muster. Here is my meditation: we breathe in our future and we breathe out our past.

Future Self and Past Self have no awareness; they exist in the memories and imaginations of Present Self. It is sometimes comforting, sometimes intimidating, but always awesome that Present Self lives, and lives forever in every direction, sucking in Future Self and expelling Past Self.

The wranch house is the child of its creators. It has nearly reached its final exterior character. This is its masculinity, and it gets its DNA from me. The interior is its feminine side, and Paula’s influence will dominate. And I acknowledge the contribution of all the craftsmen who have left their imprint.

The wranch house, once having arrived and established itself in the present time, will develop its character and personality through the interactions with all of you who come to know it. It will become the integration of many dreams and memories of a world unique and personal and wonderful.

  2. Hi Jim and Paula, See, I believe you should write a book sometime in your lifetime and I believe others believe that too! I started this a couple days ago and because I touched the wrong button on my keypad, a whole paragraph went to never-never land. So, here goes number two: I have no idea who I am today; I would like to be the Tortoise Whisper. But I believe I will eventually be the Turtle Pioneer. WHATEVER Las Vegas has gotten some needed rain. I believe Texas has got us beat. The Bing Cousins have been in Arizona and Bobby/Carolyn have been repairing some rain gullies around their place. Wickenburg area. Pat will be hosting family at his home this Thanksgiving. Him and Nita will get to see/visit their Great Grandchild for the first time. Joe Russell and his wife and baby will visit from Virginia. Joe is Jimmy Russell’s oldest son. (Joe, Steve & Katie) Dan and Jane will travel to the Carson City area. Dan/Jane will be driving Jane’s horse trailer puller. (Dodge/Ram 4by4 3/4 Cummins diesel) They will haul John’s box trailer back to Dan’s and try to sell it. The Ruskin Russell’s will have a quiet Thanksgiving at Ruskin. Now to The Wranch- – more pictures please and a site update. How has the rain been towards your dirt? You can make repairs using the bucket on your tractor, but somewhere in the future you might need a landscapers drag for the rear of your tractor. They call it a fancy name. (I will look it up) (Rear box blade scraper) Can’t find the fancy name. Love your stories, thoughts and dreams. Keep them up. You and Paula stay healthy and safe. Say hello to all the cousins and their families. Just thinking out loud and I know it’s a terrible thought: A family reunion at the Wranch before we all go to Heaven! Last family reunion there were 74 of the Carroll Clan and 4 Russell’s. SAD on the Russell’s part. Maybe I could fire up the Russell Clan- – MAYBE? Everyone have a joyous Thanksgiving and be great full for what we all have. I believe we have what we have because of our wonderful parents. Their upbringing and our upbringing. And we all know, in our upbringing, God played an important part. I will let a more religious person abound with this subject. the end
